About Us
Honor our veterans at the ellis county veterans celebration!
Honoring Service. Remembering Sacrifice. Inspiring Generations.
Since its founding in 2000 by Perry Giles and David Hudgins, the Ellis County Veterans Celebration has been a beacon of gratitude and remembrance for not only Ellis County, but North Texas as a whole. Held annually on the second Saturday of November at the Waxahachie Civic Center, this musical tribute stands as a powerful testament to the courage and dedication of our nation’s Veterans.
This ceremony brings history to life through a stirring blend of live music, vocal performances, and multimedia tributes. The sounds of the Classic Swing Band, the harmonies of The Reveille Sisters, and heartfelt performances by Brian Johnson, Casey Needham, and Fletcher Jowers fill the room, creating an atmosphere of reflection and celebration. Accompanied by a moving picture and video slideshow, these performances honor the stories of those who have served.
One of the most emotional moments of the event is the Armed Forces Medley, where each branch of service is recognized, and Veterans past and present stand to be honored. Another highlight, “Veterans Present Today,” pays tribute to those who served in different eras of conflict, ensuring that no sacrifice is forgotten.
The Ellis County Veterans Celebration is more than just an event – it is a tradition of respect, a tribute to valor, and a promise to never forget the men and women who wore the uniform. Join us as we stand together in gratitude and unity, ensuring that the legacy of our Veterans lives on.

"The ceremony is truly outstanding and acknowledges the women and men that serve in a community that defends this great country. I love how it shows Ellis County residents the different conflicts/wars/police actions through songs and pictures. You would never know the number of Ellis County individuals who have served unless you attended the ceremony. It will make your heart proud to know the amount of military service and knowledge that is living and active in Ellis County. It is very moving."

"The Ellis County Veterans Ceremony is the most moving event that I personally have the privilege of participating in every year. As an American who never served in the military, it is my opportunity to say thank you, and to honor the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving to defend our freedoms."
